Peterson has been the biggest Utah storyline so far. He posted 25 points and 12 assists in a Salt Lake City Summer League win over Memphis, with Cody Williams adding 18 points and eight rebounds as the Jazz beat a strong Grizzlies roster 109-100. Utah’s early offense looked organized with Peterson controlling the ball, and the Jazz also received useful frontcourt minutes from Blake Hinson and other depth pieces.
The concern is availability. Peterson, Ace Bailey and Cody Williams are expected to rest against Chicago on the second night of a back-to-back, while Bailey is out with recurring back spasms. That removes the top-end prospect battle that made this matchup so appealing, but it also helps explain why the number has reached 5.5 despite Chicago having played only one Vegas game.
Chicago’s case is built around Wilson, and it is a strong one. The No. 4 overall pick scored 35 points in his Las Vegas debut against Memphis, shooting 12-for-21 from the field and 7-for-11 from 3-point range while adding six rebounds, three blocks and two steals. Jaylin Sellers added 15 points, four rebounds and four assists, while Noa Essengue had 10 points, five rebounds, four blocks and two steals in the 97-96 loss.
The Bulls deserve to be favored if Wilson is the best player on the floor again. He gives Chicago a clear offensive hub, and the combination of his shooting, length and defensive activity makes him a difficult Summer League cover. Still, one huge debut does not automatically justify laying a near two-possession spread in a setting where rotations can change quickly and late-game execution is unreliable.
Utah’s path is not about winning the game outright. It is about making this less comfortable for Chicago than the market suggests. The Jazz still have enough Summer League depth to compete, and a group playing without its biggest names can often produce better ball movement and more balanced scoring than expected. In a game where the Bulls may be carrying some inflated pricing off Wilson’s debut, the points matter.
