The Boston Celtics face the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday, July 15, at 8 PM ET on ESPN2 in Las Vegas. Boston is a 5.5-point favorite at -220 on the moneyline, while Sacramento is +5.5 with a +176 moneyline price and the total is set at 177.5.
Boston has been the more stable Summer League team, entering at 2-1 after showing late-game composure and better structure than most early Vegas rosters. The Celtics beat Toronto 83-80 in overtime behind Amari Williams’ 23 points and 13 rebounds, then followed with an 87-75 win over Charlotte as Dillon Mitchell scored 24 points.
Sacramento’s record is less convincing, but this is still a live underdog spot. The Kings are 1-2 with a -15 point differential, and their latest blowout loss exposed turnover issues and poor defensive stretches. Still, Summer League spreads can overreact quickly, and this number gives Sacramento room to lose a competitive game while still cashing.

Acuff is the key reason to trust the Kings inside the spread. The rookie guard already has multiple strong scoring performances this summer, including 22 points in a California Classic win over Milwaukee and 19 points with seven assists in a win over the Clippers. His efficiency has fluctuated, but his ability to create late-clock offense and pressure the rim matters against a Celtics team that will likely keep mixing rotations.
The Kings also have support around Acuff. Maxime Raynaud gives Sacramento size and scoring touch in the frontcourt, Nique Clifford has already delivered a late-game shot in Summer League action, and Emanuel Sharp brings perimeter scoring. That trio gives the Kings enough options to avoid becoming overly dependent on Acuff possessions.
Boston’s edge is rebounding and balance. The Celtics have been stronger on the glass, averaging 41.0 rebounds per game compared to Sacramento’s 34.7, and they have gotten useful production from Williams, Hugo Gonzalez, Chris Cenac Jr., John Tonje and Amari Williams across the roster. That explains why Boston is favored, but it does not automatically justify laying multiple possessions in a Summer League game with a total under 180.
The handicap comes down to spread value. Boston is the cleaner team and deserves to be favored, but Sacramento has enough top-end guard creation to make this uncomfortable. Acuff should be aggressive after a slow team start, and the Kings have the offensive pieces to trade runs if they limit the empty possessions that hurt them earlier in Vegas.
