4 Minute ReadBulls vs. Cavaliers Prediction: Will Cavs Control Bulls Without Caleb Wilson on Friday Night?
The Chicago Bulls face the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday, July 17, at 7 PM ET on ESPN in Las Vegas. Cleveland is a 3.5-point favorite at -170 on the moneyline, while Chicago is +3.5 with a +138 moneyline price and the total is set at 184.5.
This number is built around two teams moving in different directions. Chicago’s Summer League has been driven almost entirely by Caleb Wilson’s flashes, but the Bulls have still suffered multiple ugly losses and now enter this matchup without their top scorer and main playmaking hub. Wilson confirmed he will not play in the final Summer League game after averaging 23.5 points on 50% shooting.

Bulls vs. Cavaliers Prediction
That is a major blow to a Bulls team that has already struggled to stay competitive. Chicago lost 80-63 to Utah despite Wilson producing 19 points, eight rebounds, five blocks and two steals, then was handled 105-82 by the Lakers in a game Los Angeles controlled from the opening stretch. Without Wilson, Chicago loses its best rim pressure, most reliable scoring option and the one player who could consistently bend the defense.
Cleveland has not been perfect, but the Cavaliers have had more structure and more usable rotation pieces. Meleek Thomas has been the standout name after a 35-point Summer League eruption, though he is not expected to play in this finale. Even with Thomas likely sitting, Cleveland still has Malaki Branham’s scoring punch, Ernest Udeh Jr.’s defensive presence, Riley Minix’s floor-spacing potential and a group of players competing for final roster and two-way consideration.
The Cavaliers also have the better defensive floor. Chicago’s offense was inconsistent even with Wilson drawing attention, and now the Bulls need secondary options such as Dailyn Swain, Jaylin Sellers, Noa Essengue and Tobe Awaka to carry more usage. That is a difficult ask against a Cleveland team that should be able to pressure the ball, protect the rim and force Chicago into late-clock possessions.

The best-bet case is that Cleveland does not need a dominant offensive performance to cover this number. The Bulls have already shown they can get buried when their offense stalls, and removing Wilson makes those droughts even more likely. Cleveland’s depth, defensive edge and cleaner late-game structure should be enough to control the game and win by multiple possessions.
