The issue for Detroit is defensive consistency. The Pistons have had stretches where they allow quick paint touches, lose shooters in transition and struggle to finish possessions with clean rebounds. That is a problem against a Miami team that still has enough guard play to create pace, even after cooling off from its opening blowout win over Milwaukee.
Miami’s offense has been uneven since that first game, but the Heat still have scoring options. Jahmir Young has been one of their most aggressive guards, Ryan Conwell gave them early shot-making before his workload became a factor, and Trevor Keels can create enough pressure to keep possessions moving. Vladislav Goldin also gives Miami a frontcourt target who can score around the rim and create second-chance points.
The spread is not as appealing because both teams have been difficult to trust late in games. Detroit has the better current market position, but Miami’s guard play is capable of answering runs. The total is the cleaner angle because neither defense has been reliable enough to project a grind.
