Houston vs. Memphis Prediction
Regardless of the result tonight, these two teams will be playing in March Madness next week. Houston will likely be a #1 seed regardless of the result, and they would love nothing more than to be the #1 overall seed, as the final four is in Houston this year.
Houston will lock up that seed with a win today.
Memphis has turned in a good season under head coach Penny Hardaway. This will be the first tournament team for Hardway, and the main reason for that is the transfer, Kendric Davis.
Davis, who is a transfer from SMU, has taken this team to the next level this year, making them a team that nobody wants to see in the big dance. The last time these two teams played at Memphis, it was an electric game that was won by a Houston buzzer-beater. It was a heartbreaking loss for the Tigers, but it showed them that they could compete with anyone in college basketball.
Houston, who is led by guard Marcus Sasser, has one of the most balanced offensive attacks in college basketball. This is a team that has four players that average double figures and can hurt you in multiple ways. They also have one of the best coaches in college hoops in the form of Kelvin Sampson, who has his sights set on winning another conference championship. Houston enters as a fice favorite.
I am backing the Cougars with the points today. I know some people out there think that there is a narrative that it's hard to be a team three times, but that is not the case when it comes to Houston. Houston matches up very well against Memphis and they are currently playing their best brand of basketball on the season. This is an experienced team that has played in these kinds of games before and should be well-prepared for this one today.
