Nevada vs. Arizona State Prediction
Last night, we saw two outstanding first four games, and I expect another one tonight between two good basketball teams. Nevada being here is a surprise to many as they were the one team that made March Madness that a lot of people disagreed with.
The Wolf Pack really struggled at the back end of their season, losing their last three games, including a loss to San Jose State in the Mountain West tournament. This is a talented group that is led by one of the best college basketball players of all time in Steve Alford. Alford knows a thing or two about winning a National Championship, as he won one at the University of Indiana as the team's top player.
The head coach, on the other side, also happens to be one of the best college basketball players of all time in the form of Bobby Hurley. Hurley won two National Championships at Duke, so similar to Alford, he knows a thing or two about success during this time of the year.
Nevada has been led by Oregon State transfer Jarod Lucas. Lucas is one of the best three-point shooters in this tournament, and if he can get going from distance, this could be a long night for the Sun Devils.
Arizona State, meanwhile, has been led by Auburn transfer Devan Cambridge Jr, who leads the team in scoring, averaging 13.7 points per game. The Sun Devils come into play as a two-point favorite.
I will be backing the dog tonight and taking the points with the Wolf Pack. I believe that this is a coin-flip game, and similar to the Pitt vs. Miss State game last night, I expect a lot of back-and-forth action.
In that case, you want to have the team with the points. No disrespect to Arizona State, but I think that they are being overvalued here due to the struggles that Nevada had late in the year. This is a Sun Devils team that has struggled to score the basketball with consistency, and if Nevada is locked in on the offensive end, they will struggle to keep pace in this game. I like the way the Wolf Pack matchup tonight and I will trust them with the points. Let’s stay hot!
