When I scanned Wednesday’s CBB board last night, one game stuck out to me. I was shocked to see Loyola Chicago only getting 4.5 points against 10th-ranked FAU, especially after their Cinderella Final Four run last year. The line has since moved to 6.5, but I still think that short spread is very telling…

FAU vs. Loyola Chicago Prediction
FAU gave us one of the best stories in all of sports last season when they went on an incredible March Madness run. This team went all the way to the Final Four before losing to SDSU by just one point.
The public seems to think the Owls are running it back this season, with over 80% of bets and handle currently backing FAU on the spread tonight. I don’t blame them, this team returns almost everyone from last year’s magical run, including star guard Johnell Davis. If this team is so good, why are they only laying 6.5 points against the Ramblers?
Don’t let Sister Jean or the Ramblers get hot this season! It might be too late, as Drew Valentine has loaded this roster with some really good veteran transfers. Greg Dolan and Dame Adelekun, two graduate transfers from the Ivy League, should start right away for the new-look Ramblers.
Don’t sleep on Des Watson either, who transferred from Davidson. This will be a completely new-look starting rotation for Loyola Chicago, which is much-needed after a 10-21 season. The good thing is, this team now has depth and plenty of veterans on the roster.
The outlier in this matchup is Vladislav Golden, the 7’1” Center for the Owls. Luckily for the Ramblers, they have plenty of veteran bodies in their frontcourt to throw at Goldin and slow him down.
This isn’t a home game for Loyola Chicago, but it might as well be. They will be playing FAU in the Wintrust Arena in Chicago, and you know the Ramblers crowd is going to show up for the first game of the season. Fade the Owls after an incredible postseason run, and buy-low on the Ramblers in Valentine’s third season.
