FIU vs. Miami Prediction: Can Norchad Omier, Hurricanes Run Up the Score?
The Miami Hurricanes lost Isaiah Wong and Jordan Miller from last year’s stacked roster, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t just as competitive this season. Tonight, the Hurricanes take on FIU for their third home game in a row. Will the Panthers show some heart against the best team they’ll face all season, or will Miami will big for the third game in a row?

FIU vs. Miami Prediction
FIU wasn’t protected to win their conference or make any noise this year, but they’ve found a way to look worse than their expectations in 2023. They got destroyed by UCF in their first game of the season, which is expected, but they lost by 17 to Tarleton State on Thursday. The Panthers were actually favorites to win that game, and they played like they should’ve been +20 on the spread.
FIU’s defense might be the worst unit I’ve watched so far this season. Miami is going to destroy the Panthers defense from deep, in the paint, and at the free throw line. Nobody on this FIU team can keep up with Norchad Omier, who should have a field day today against FIU’s frontcourt. I’m willing to bet Miami puts up close to, if not more than 100 points tonight on their home floor.
The Hurricanes have scored 100 points already this season against NJIT. FIU might play even worse defense than NJIT, which is the scary part. This Miami offense should only continue to get better as they shake the rust off, too.
Miami has destroyed both teams they’ve played so far this season. They are welcoming in debatably the worst opponent they’ve faced yet, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the Panthers catch Miami sleeping in this spot. FIU is coming off an embarrassing loss in which they got blown out as favorites, and Miami has yet to run into any trouble. Maybe FIU’s offense will shock some people tonight…
There is a zero percent chance I am putting my hard-earned money on FIU to cover this spread, but I will bet the over in this spot. I think Miami is putting up another 100-piece tonight, and FIU has added motivation against the best team they’ll face all season after getting blown out by Tarleton State. The total in this matchup has risen by almost 10 points since the opening line dropped; lock in the over before you get a worse number.
