With only one ranked team playing tonight, you’ve got to look a little deeper for some good college basketball games. There is a diamond in the rough on the CBB slate tonight: Princeton vs. Duquesne. Two undefeated mid-majors both inside KenPom’s Top 100 Rankings face off in Pittsburgh. This game also includes two of the best guards in the country in Matt Allocco and Dae Dae Grant. Which star will keep their team undefeated tonight?

Princeton vs. Duquesne Prediction
Princeton’s historic Sweet 16 run was one to remember last season, but the Tigers lose three key players in 2023, including Tosan Evbuomwan, the team’s best player. They do return a strong core from last season with Allocco and Lee who’s off to a great start this year, but Coach Henderson doesn’t believe in the transfer portal as this team welcomed in five freshman who probably all won’t play.
Duquesne hit the transfer portal this year, bringing in the Drame brothers from LaSalle, along with two other graduate seniors from NC State and Georgia Southern. This Dukes team has more depth this season than they’ve ever had, with plenty of size and veterans coming off the bench. Dae Dae Grant has been electric in the Dukes three wins this year, averaging more than 20 PPG. He is a future NBA player and by far the best player on the court tonight.
The Dukes simply have too much veteran size and talent for Princeton to overcome on the road. I know this Tigers team is extremely well coached, and they consistently over-perform, but with less than 50% of bets and over 69% of handle backing Duquesne on the spread tonight, I cannot resist the Dukes at home here. The spread is on the move too, getting steamed from -4.5 to -6 on most books.
The Tigers have one elite scorer this season in Allocco. Luckily for Duquesne, they have Tre Clark, the best defender in the A-10. Expect Coach Dambrot to stick Clark on Alloco tonight, limiting Princeton’s star on offense.
Back the Dukes on the spread before it gets any longer. I am extremely high on Dae Dae Grant and this Duquesne team after a 20-win season in 2022. I think it could be their year to win the A-10, and a win against a Princeton team who advanced to the Sweet 16 last season could go a long way for the Dukes’ confidence.
