Miami Hurricanes vs. Kentucky Wildcats Prediction

Miami will begin play with a perfect 5-0 record.

The Canes' 5-0 record has earned themselves the number eight ranking in college hoops.

This is one of the deepest rosters in college basketball.

Veteran head coach Jim Larranaga has seen some good teams during his time at the U, but has said that this could be his best.

Miami went on a run in the spring, reaching the final four a season ago.

The year prior, the Canes reached the elite eight.

Miami has established itself as one of the best college basketball programs in the nation.

The scary thing for the ACC and the rest of college basketball is the Canes returned a large part of their final four roster.

Philadelphia native Wooga Poplar is one of those returning stars. Poplar is off to a terrific start, averaging a team-best 18.0 points per game paired with 6.0 rebounds.

One of the newcomers to this roster is perhaps the most talented player on the team, Matthew Cleveland. Cleveland transferred in from rival school, Florida State, and has quickly made an impact, averaging 16.8 points per game and 2.4 assists.

Guard Nijel Pack and big man Norchad Omier were both a part of the final four run, and they have picked up where they left off. Pack is averaging 16.0 points per game and 4.0 assists, while Omier has averaged 15.8 points per game and a team-best 9.2 rebounds.

Kentucky will begin play on Tuesday night with a 5-1 record.

The Cats' lone loss came against Kansas, who was ranked number one at the time.

Head coach John Calipari is one of the nation's best recruiters and has built an incredibly talented roster this season.

One of Coach Cal's young stars is guard Rob Dillingham. The freshman guard has averaged 16.0 points per game paired with 5.2 assists.

Camden, New Jersey native D.J. Wagner has adjusted to the college game well, averaging 14.5 points per game, and is viewed as one of the top prospects in the nation.

Veteran Antonio Reeves leads the team in scoring with 19.0 points per game.

Miami Hurricanes vs. Kentucky Wildcats Pick

Kentucky has not shown me enough to be a 7.5-point favorite over a team that just reached the final four a season ago.

Kentucky is a young team that will get better as the season goes along, but this is a tough spot for them to blow out an experienced Miami team.

As mentioned, this is an experienced Miami roster made up of primarily upperclassmen.

That gives the Canes a considerable advantage when playing on the road because these guys have played in difficult atmospheres before and know how to handle it.

This will be a hard-fought back-and-forth game tonight in which the Canes will stay within this number.
