Texas vs. Marquette Prediction

Former Texas head coach Shaka Smart will face his former team tonight.

Despite a pair of losses, Marquette remains ranked in the top ten as they enter play ranked 8th.

The Golden Eagles are the betting favorites to win the Big East.

Guard Kam Jones leads this Golden Eagles team. The Junior has averaged a team-best 16.4 points per game.

Reigning Big East player of the year, Tyler Kolek, is off to a strong start. The Cumberland, Rhode Island native has poured in 13.5 points per game and a team-best 5.3 assists.

Big man Oso Ighodaro has performed well in his role, racking up 12.6 points per game while leading the squad in rebounds, averaging 6.4 per game.

Marquette ranks eighth in AdjEM (+25.06).

The Longhorns are in the second year of the Rodney Terry era.

Texas has made the big dance in three consecutive seasons.

Last year, the Longhorns reached the Elite Eight, where they lost to the Miami Hurricanes.

Texas will have revenge on their minds this season.

The Longhorns begin play with a record of 6-1, which earns them the No. 12 ranking in the nation.

Max Abmas is the star of the team. The senior transfer from Oral Roberts has averaged a team-best 16.7 points per game. He is one of the best pure scorers in college basketball.

Virginia transfer Kadin Shedrick is off to a terrific start. The 6’11 senior has contributed 14.2 points per game paired with 5.2 rebounds.

Ithiel Horton has settled into his role nicely. The UCF transfer has averaged 12.6 points per game.

Sophomore big man Dillon Mitchell leads the Longhorns with 8.9 rebounds per game.

Texas vs. Marquette Pick

Marquette matches up well with this Texas lineup.

The Golden Eagles have one of the best offenses in the nation, and their pace will be too much for Texas to keep up with.

The fact that we see a line this large suggests that it is a Marquette line.

This game will mean a little more to Shaka Smart, and his players will play with a chip on their shoulders at home.

Let’s stay hot on the hardwood!
