The James Madison Dukes have been one of the best stories this year in sports. Their football team almost went undefeated, and their basketball team is still undefeated, sitting at 8-0 ranked No. 18 in the country. This team has beaten teams like Michigan State and Kent State on the road already this year in impressive fashion, but Saturday’s contest might be their toughest challenge yet. Will James Madison win and cover against their in-state rival Old Dominion, or will the Monarchs pull off the upset of the weekend?

James Madison vs. Old Dominion Prediction
Old Dominion is better than their record indicates. They might be 3-5, but Coach Jones has done an impeccable job of moving this program in the right direction. Chaunce Jenkins has been incredible for the Monarchs since transferring back home from Wichita State. The 6’4” guard will be extremely tough to cover.
James Madison has gotten the better of Old Dominion over the years, but the Monarchs always seem to keep it close. They haven’t lost a game to James Madison by more than nine points since 1997. In the 43 matchups since then, Old Dominion has either won outright or kept it close. That’s an impressive trend that doesn’t look like it’s slowing down anytime soon.
This is a brutal spot for James Madison, who is currently ranked and still undefeated. They know they should beat Old Dominion, but with their track record against their in-state rival, I wouldn’t be shocked if the Monarchs keep this one within a bucket. This spread is also insanely short, and James Madison is already one of the most public plays on the slate at the time of this write-up.
It’s been an impressive start to the season for the Dukes, but they can’t stay undefeated forever. Even if they pull off another crazy come-from-behind victory, it won’t be enough to cover the spread. Back the Monarchs on the spread; this game is going down to the last possession.
