This is a game they should win, but no road-test in the Big East is ever a walk in the park, and the Huskies have a big game at home on Saturday against a St. John’s team that’s playing really good basketball right now. After winning last year’s National Championship, Coach Hurley has replaced Sanogo’s elite-level production from last season with star sophomore Donovan Clingan. The Pirates have some big bodies to throw at Clingan tonight in Bediako and Hutchins-Everett. Seton Hall doesn’t lack size, and their trio of senior guards will be looking to knock off the Huskies after a big win at Gonzaga last week.
Seton Hall’s top three scorers are all transfer guards averaging more than 12.5 points per game. They are coming off a big win against a very good Missouri team where they combined for 58 points. This backcourt has the experience, skill and speed to keep up with UConn; I wouldn’t be surprised if they find a way to win this game outright.
Less than 20% of the bets and handle are currently backing Seton Hall on the spread, but they’ve moved from a double-digit underdog to a +8.5 point underdog.
