On Tuesday night, college basketball takes the center stage with no NFL or CFB Bowl games. There are some really great matchups today, but I’ve got my eye on one game in particular. Zach Edey travels to College Park on Tuesday to take on the Terps. Will the best big-man in the country keep his team ranked #1 in the country with a road win, or will the Terps pull off the upset?

Purdue is legit this season, but we’ve seen the Boilermakers struggle on the road over the years. They might be 12-1 to start the 2024 season, but this team is barely over .500 on the road during Zach Edey’s career. This game will be closer than the public is expecting…
The main reason why Purdue has found so much success early on this season has been the consistency of Braden Smith and Fletcher Layer at the guard position. These two sharpshooters have both had their fair share of successes throughout the years, but their consistency this season has led to their #1 ranking. Luckily for the Terps, their pesky guards will be able to keep up with Purdue’s backcourt.
Jahmir Young is the best player on the Terps, plain and simple. He’s averaging close to 20 PPG, but it’s been Young and the Terps’ defense that’s helped them get hot before conference play. Maryland was able to beat UCLA the other day with their defense. Purdue has notoriously struggled on the road; I wouldn’t be surprised if Kevin Willard’s defense is too much for the Boilermakers to handle tonight.
This might be the most important reason why the Terps are winning tonight… Red Panda will be performing at halftime at the Xfinity Center. The Terps play well when Red Panda performs, winning four of their last five games. All jokes aside, Maryland has one of the best home-court advantages in the country. Zach Edey and Purdue will have their hands full tonight.
Back the Terps on the spread tonight. After a slow start to the season, this team has looked much better of late, winning with their defense. This will be pivotal in a physical battle tonight with Edey and the Boilermakers, but don’t sleep on Maryland; they can hang with Purdue in this spot.
