Minnesota vs. Indiana Prediction
Minnesota comes into tonight's matchup with a 12-3 record and a 3-1 record in the Big Ten beating Nebraska, Michigan, and Maryland, with their only loss being Ohio State. Minnesota has been very good against the spread with nation high 14-1 ATS so far this season. This Golden Gophers team is led by Junior forward Dawson Garcia who leads the team in PPG with 16.7 and RPG with 7.6.
Another scorer for this Golden Gophers is Mike Mitchell Jr who averages 11.1 PPG, but Elijah Hawkins runs this offense. Hawkins, a junior guard from Howard has been a nice addition to this team. Hawkins is not going to amazing you with his scoring, but he is a great distributer. Hawkins averages 7.8 APG which is second best in the nation! He directs this Gopher offense, yet is a scrappy defender where last game out, Hawkins had six steals against Maryland. Hawkins is going to be a must watch tonight against these Hoosier guards.
Moving over to Indiana, the Hoosiers are 11-5 with a 3-2 record in the Big Ten beating Maryland, Michigan, and Ohio State and losing to Nebraska and Rutgers. Indiana is led by sophomore forward Malik Reneau who is averaging 16.3 PPG. Kel'el Ware who is the center on this team almost averaging a double-double. Ware is averaging 14.7 PPG and 9.3 RPG. This Hoosier team plays relatively fast compared to the Gophers.
When looking at these two teams, I think Minnesota has a slight edge than this Indiana team. Yes, Indiana is playing at Assembly Hall and that place is going to be rocking, but I think this Minnesota team is the side tonight. The Gophers shoot the ball well, distribute and run a better offense, take care of the ball at a good rate, and they have a rebounding advantage tonight. If Garcia and Hawkins can can play like they have been early in this Big Ten season, I think they could possibly win outright tonight.
