Marquette vs. Butler Prediction
Let’s not forget that Butler already beat Marquette earlier this year. This Bulldogs team matches up with Marquette very well. Thad Matta’s slew of transfers has over-exceeded expectations this season, and tonight Butler has a chance to beat one of the best teams in the country for the second time.
Butler is stacked with guards who can keep up with Tyler Kolek and Kam Jones. The Bulldogs’ physicality in their backcourt poses problems for Marquette, hence why they lost in the first matchup. I’m willing to bet we see much of the same from Butler face guarding Kolek in this game, eliminating him completely like they did in January when he had only two points.
This Butler team is 11-2 at home. They are fresh off a big win against Providence at home, and I’m fully expecting this team to continue building on their momentum on this hot stretch. Their only loss in recent history was against UConn, the best team in the country. Thad Matta has his boys locked in right now.
The public is hammering Marquette to bounce back and get their revenge against Butler on the road. The spread has moved a little bit towards Marquette, but I’m still on Butler here in this spot. Let’s not forget how well this Butler team shoots the three-pointer at home.
