Let's dive into my NCAA Basketball Championship predictions.
NCAA Basketball Championship Predictions
Pick Purdue +700 Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds
Head coach Matt Painter has done an outstanding job with this program since taking over. Painter brings loads of experience with a 435-200 career record. The issues for the Boilermakers have come in March. Purdue has reached the big dance in eight consecutive seasons.
The Boilermakers have been a four-seed or higher for six straight years. This program has yet to reach the final four during this eight-year run and has only reached the Elite 8 once. Purdue has lost in the first round in two of their last three years. To say that this team is due is an understatement.
Zach Edey is the most dominant player in college basketball. There is no team that can match up with Edey, making Purdue one of the most challenging teams to beat. The Boilermakers have strong guard play this year, led by Lance Jones and Branden Smith.
Purdue ranks second in adjusted offense this season, making them a matchup nightmare for opposing teams. Additionally, this is a strong defense that ranks 13th in adjusted defense. Purdue is worth a bet this year.Â
Pick Wisconsin +5000 Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds
This is a great time to get some action on the Badgers, as they have lost four games in a row. Despite the cold run, this Badgers team has some impressive wins. They went toe to toe with Purdue, proving they could play with the best teams in college basketball.
Head coach Greg Gard has done a great job since taking over in 2015. Gard has reached the tournament every year outside of 2018. The Badgers have yet to reach the Sweet 16 since 2017, but this is an experienced Wisconsin team. That is what makes this team so attractive at this price.
Four of the five Badgers starters are seniors, which goes a long way in March. Sophomore AJ Storr is the X-factor for this team. The St. Johns transfer gives them a change of pace offensively, and he is a guy who can make a play at any moment. This is something that the Badgers have lacked in years past. Lastly, Wisconsin has played the second toughest schedule in college hoops, which helps prepare them for March.Â
Pick: New Mexico +8000 Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds
New Mexico is one of the most underrated teams in college hoops. The Lobos have impressive wins on their resume this season while showing their ability to win away from home. Jamal Mashburn Jr. and Jaelen House are experienced backcourts that are great on both sides of the basketball court.
The Lobos rank 26th in adjusted defense while ranking 11th in points scored per game (84.0). New Mexico has been battle-tested this season as they play in a strong conference in the Mountian West. This is a confident and experienced team that is more than capable of going on a run. At this price, the Lobos are worth a sprinkle.Â
