Radford is typically one of the better teams in the Big South Conference but it has been a bit of a down year for them as they enter this Big South showdown with a record of 13-12.

Winthrop vs. Radford Prediction
While the Highlanders have lost a few more games than usual, they have been a very solid team at home this season as they are 7-3 in their home arena with their loss is coming to High Point, Gardner, Webb, and Charleston Southern, who have a combined record of 41-36 and really the only bad loss there is to Charleston Southern. Radford is also currently on a three game losing streak, which is very rare for them so I do believe they are due for some positive regression in the win department.
On the other side, Winthrop is not playing their basketball at the moment either as they are 1-3 in the last four games, and just 2-5 in their last seven. The Eagles are 1-3 in their last four road games with their only win coming against lowly Charleston Southern so they have not fared well away from home against teams in the upper talent echelon of their conference.
Winthrop has really struggled to defend away from home as they allowed 79 points to Gardner Webb, 82 points to UNC Asheville, and 84 points to Longwood. Winthrop also squandered a double digit halftime lead against Gardner Webb as they were out scored by 20 points on the road in the second half of that contest, which was an extremely poor showing in an important conference matchup.
We have a very similar matchup tonight where they have to go on the road to face a hungry and due Radford squad who is eager for revenge after their triple overtime lost to Winthrop a few weeks ago. This has been the year of the home team in college basketball and I think that trend has a great chance to continue tonight with DaQuan Smith and Co. on their home floor in a bounce back and revenge type conference situation.
This is a fantastic situational spot for positive regression for Radford and a spot for Winthrop where they have not performed well to this point in the season. I think Radford comes out strong with a great performance on their home floor and ends their three game losing streak while also getting revenge against Winthrop. With that being said, I am rolling with Radford ML at +102 for 2U as my most confident College Basketball play of the day for tonight’s action.
