Two of the best teams in the Mountain West face off at the Pit on Wednesday night. No. 22 ranked Colorado State heads to New Mexico to take on Donovan Dent and the Lobos in a nationally televised game. Will New Mexico continue to dominate at the Pit, or will Colorado State sweep the season series tonight?

COLORADO STATE VS. NEW MEXICO PREDICTION
There might end up being close to 200 points when this game finishes up. Both of these teams can score with ease, especially New Mexico. They rank 15th in the country in PPG and 19th in pace, which Colorado State typically doesn’t like. The Rams like to slow the pace down with Isaiah Stevens taking his time commanding the offense, which still ranks 76th in PPG, respectfully.
JT Toppin feasted against the Rams the first time these two teams played, but Colorado State was able to squeak out the win at home. I’m willing to bet we see New Mexico come out firing after a big loss to San Diego State in their last game. The Lobos were ranked weeks ago, but have struggled of late, losing three of their last five games. JT Toppin should thrive on the interior against the soft frontcourt of Joel Scott and Patrick Cartier down low.
These teams are both tied for fourth in the Mountain West. There might only be four bids from this conference this season, and although there are many teams worth a look, both Colorado State and New Mexico know that they have to play nearly perfect down the stretch. Tonight’s matchup is huge, and considering the Rams already won the first matchup, I’m siding with the Lobos at the Pit tonight.
Donovan Dent and JT Toppin were able to slice and dice this CSU interior, if they can limit the turnovers tonight, they’ll be able to get the revenge they are looking for on their home floor. Back the Lobos on the spread before the number gets any larger. New Mexico opened up a 5.5 point favorite, but has since moved to a 7.5 point favorite. This is a large number to be laying against a ranked team…
Fade Colorado State and back New Mexico’s star-studded rotation at home tonight. They still need to prove to the country that they are not only one of the best teams in the Mountain West, but in the country. They should be the team ranked No. 22 in the AP Poll in this matchup, not Colorado State. That is the “chip on their shoulder” type attitude the Lobos are going to play with tonight; that sounds like a dangerous team.
