I’m willing to bet we see a much better Stanford team tonight than we’ve seen in recent games. Oregon relies heavily on scoring from inside the arc, but Stanford’s interior defense is solid. Two of their best players reside in the paint in Maxime Raynaud and Brandon Angel. The Ducks will have a tough time scoring in the paint to say the least…
This Stanford team also likes to push the pace, something Oregon doesn’t necessarily prefer. They are a better rebounding team than Oregon, a better three-point shooting team than Oregon, and they are a much better passing team than Oregon as well. This Stanford team is underrated roster-wise, we just haven’t seen them consistently play up to their potential.
If Oregon struggles to defend the perimeter like they have at times in 2024, this game might get ugly. Stanford has plenty of shooters looking to leave their mark in the stat sheet tonight. They rank 23rd in the country in 3-PT field goals per game, and 10th in the country in 3-PT field goal percentage. Stanford’s got some shooters who are very due; that’s a recipe for success on their home floor against an extremely-average Ducks team.
