Providence vs. Marquette Prediction: Can Devin Carter, Friars Shock Golden Eagles in Big East Semifinals?
After an incredible finish to last night’s matchup against Villanova, Marquette is looking to keep their Big East postseason hopes alive without their best player Tyler Kolek. Will the Golden Eagles be able to hold off the Providence Friars at MSG tonight? Their season depends on it…

Providence vs. Marquette Prediction
The Providence Friars are playing some inspired basketball right now. No Ed Cooley, no problem for the Friars as Kim English has his guys insanely motivated and playing great down the stretch. They are fresh-off an upset as 8.5-point underdogs to Creighton, looking to keep their season alive. If they win today against Marquette, maybe the committee will consider them for an at-large bid.
Marquette was able to get away with playing without their star against Villanova last night, but it took overtime to decide that game. Marquette is already playing short handed. I’m sure they were feeling those extra minuted and that added stress when they woke up this morning, too. Don’t be surprised if Providence sends them home early from the Big East tournament tonight…
Devin Carter and this Providence team already beat Marquette once this season, and that was with a 21-piece from Kolek. Marquette will have to rely heavily on their role players once again tonight, and with the amount of confidence Providence is playing with right now, I wouldn’t want to be in their shoes.
Speaking of Devin Carter, the Friars’ best player is playing his best basketball of the season right now. He’s been all over the court, snagging double-digit rebounds like it’s his job. Devin Carter will be the best player on the court tonight. He will carry Providence to an upset victory tonight, or at least a cover.
We’ve seen this movie before. Providence tends to play their best basketball when the lights are brightest, and it’s been no different this season with Kim English at the helm. Back the Friars to do what they always do tonight: cover as an underdog in a primetime game. I’ll meet you at the cash counter.
