The Stanford Cardinal have been coached by Tara VanDerveer for 35 years. Under VanDerveer, Stanford has won nearly 83% of games.
The Cardinal have also won three NCAA Tournaments and have made it to 13 Final Fours. Stanford has also added 27 Pac-12 regular season titles and 15 Pac-12 Conference Tournament Championships under Vanderveer.
She's already been inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame. That was in 2011. At 70 years old, she's still one of the best coaches in the nation and has Stanford in a prime position for another Final Four appearance.
In the first round of the Tournament, the Cardinal will face Norfolk State in the Regional 4 in Portland.

Norfolk State Spartans vs. Stanford Cardinal Prediction
The Stanford Cardinal are led by senior forward Cameron Brink, who has averaged 17.8 points, 12 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game this season. Brink has shot 51.2% from the field and is currently one of the most notable women's college basketball athletes in America.
Brink has some help, though. Stanford's Kiki Iriafen currently leads the team in scoring with 18.6 points per game. Along with Brink, Iriafen has added 11 rebounds. Those two average 23 rebounds per game together, which is absurd.
Stanford has shot 46.3% from the field. They've also scored 1.10 points per scoring attempt but don't get to the foul line at a super high rate. However, they've taken three-point shots about 30% of their shots this season. Still, 56.2% of points scored for Stanford are coming inside, thanks to Stanford's two upperclassmen forwards.
On the other hand, Stanford has held teams to a very low free throw rate. Teams have shot just 35.4% agaisnt Stanford per game this season. The Cardinal have limited opponents to 38.3% from two and 29.5% from three, which is incredible.
On the other hand, Norfolk State has a couple of really good scorers. Diamond Johnson has only played in 21 games, but she's averaging about 20 points per game and has shot over 40% from downtown this season as the Spartans' point guard.
Kierra Wheeler is also someone to pay attention to. She's added 17.6 points per game while shooting 50.8% from the field. Wheeler is typically a near-double-double machine, averaging 9.7 rebounds a night as well.
The Spartans pride themselves on defense, holding teams to 52.5 points per game. While they won't be able to hold Stanford to that number, Norfolk should have a good enough strategy to limit Stanford enough to at least cover the 35.5-point spread.
I'll take Norfolk State at +35.5. Even a 75-45 win wouldn't be enough for Stanford!
