Oregon vs. Creighton Prediction: Can N'Faly Dante, Ducks Continue Torrid Run in Round of 32?

The Oregon Ducks will look to continue their magic run with another NCAA Tournament victory as an underdog. Can N'Faly Dante keep carrying the Ducks, this time against Ryan Kalkbrenner and the Bluejays? Krabs analyzes this showdown and provides his pick against the spread in Oregon vs. Creighton.

Oregon vs. Creighton Prediction: Can N'Faly Dante, Ducks Continue Torrid Run in Round of 32?

Did you have Oregon advancing in your bracket? Most probably didn’t, but the Ducks looked like the better team in the first round versus South Carolina. The Gamecocks had no answer for N’Faly Dante in the paint. Will Creighton be able to contain the Ducks’ big man on Saturday, or will Oregon pull off another upset on their road to the Sweet Sixteen?

Oregon vs. Creighton Prediction

I don’t know if you could find a worse matchup in the tournament for Creighton in the second round. The Bluejays are tall, but they aren’t very physical. Oregon has debatably the best big man in the tournament remaining besides Zach Edey. I don’t see how Ryan Kalkbrenner is going to match up with Dante down low. He should be able to get whatever he wants against a soft interior defense.

If Creighton wants to win this game, they are going to have to rely on their outside shooting. This team shoots the three very well, but are we really going to rely on Baylor Scheierman and Steven Ashworth to hit clutch shots when the lights are brightest? These two seniors are coming off great seasons, but have struggled at times in big games. If Dante is playing like as well as he did on Thursday, that could rattle this Creighton team. They don’t want to play bully-ball…

It hasn’t just been Dante carrying this Oregon team. Their senior sharpshooter Jermaine Couisnard is coming off a 40-piece against the Gamecocks, his former team. That could be the spark this Oregon team needs to carry them in this postseason tournament. We’ve seen Dana Altman’s teams thrive in March in years past..

We’ve seen some crazy upsets this March, and this Creighton team has proven this season that they can win or lose to any team in the country. The Bluejays are one of the most inconsistent teams in the country, and if they can’t knock down their perimeter shots, Oregon will dominate them. Kalkbrenner won’t be able to save them on the inside like he usually does when this team isn’t hitting their threes.

There are some big bets being placed on the Ducks. 27% of bets, but more than 45% of the handle is currently backing Oregon to cover the spread (on VSIN). There are big splits on the moneyline, too. Fade Creighton in the second round after they looked unbeatable on Thursday. The public has recency bias, but we know how inconsistent this Creighton team really is. Back Dante and the Ducks on the spread; I’ll meet you at the cash counter.
