The Memphis Tigers finished the regular season with a 29-5 record and an American Athletic Conference Championship. Despite their success, Memphis was given a five-seed and is now an underdog against No. 12-seeded Colorado State. Memphis is currently on an eight-game winning streak. In the previous two rounds of the AAC, it barely escaped Wichita State and Tulane before knocking off UAB. However, Colorado State has a ten-game winning streak and earned a conference championship in the Mountain West. That said, the Mountain West has looked extremely poor in the NCAA Tournament over the years. Mountain West teams seeded 10th or worse are 1-26 in the first round, including 24 straight losses. San Diego State and Utah State each lost by a handful of points to start the NCAA Tournament this year. Therefore, the Mountain West might be a bit overrated. Can PJ Haggerty and the Memphis Tigers prove it?

However, the Rams don't always get to the foul line quickly, and they also don't earn a high rate of offensive rebounds. If Colorado State doesn't have it from the field early, it'll be hard to earn many second-chance opportunities. Plus, the Rams have turned the ball over 17.4% of the time, which is still a high rate. Memphis isn't great on the defensive glass, but Colorado State likely won't take advantage of it anyway.
