4 minDrake vs. Texas Tech Prediction, Pick, Odds: Will JT Toppin, Red Raiders Avoid Drake's Upset Bid on Saturday?
We’ve got a great matchup today in the first round of the NCAA Tournament as Texas Tech takes on Drake in what should be a fun and competitive game. Drake will look to pull off the upset against a very talented Texas Tech squad, trying to shut down a potent offense the way they held Mizzou to just 57 points on Thursday. That defensive pace component alone makes this matchup even more intriguing, especially with how both teams have been playing coming into March Madness.

Drake vs. Texas Tech Prediction for Round of 32
Texas Tech and Drake are both coming into this game with momentum, and both have players who can take over a game. For Texas Tech, JT Toppin has been balling out — he’s been a key piece on both ends of the floor, giving the Red Raiders energy, scoring, and rebounding. On the other side, Drake is led by Bennett Stirtz, who’s been lights out lately and will need to have another big performance if they want to pull off this upset.
That said, Texas Tech is simply the better all-around team. They’re more physical, more athletic, and they play at a higher level on both ends. Offensively, they move the ball well and have multiple scoring options, and defensively they’re elite — forcing turnovers, contesting shots, and dominating the boards. Drake has had a strong season, no doubt, but Texas Tech’s size, depth, and defensive pressure should make the difference in this one.
Expect Drake to fight hard, but in the end, Texas Tech’s talent will take over. This is a spot where Texas Tech should control the pace and gradually pull away. I’m backing Texas Tech to not only win but cover the spread in what should be a solid all-around performance.
