The Chattanooga Mocs will take on the UC Irvine Anteaters for the NIT Championship tonight on ESPN.

Chattanooga earned four wins to get to this point. In two of those games, the Mocs earned a win in three overtimes over Middle Tennessee and added a two-point win over Bradley. They've had some tough calls but have found a way each time.

Meanwhile, UC Irvine has won its last three games in the NIT by no more than five points. The Anteaters needed overtime to beat UAB and escaped North Texas last time out, 69-67. Ultimately, the NIT has been competitive, and tonight's game will likely be no different.

The Mocs are led by Trey Bonham, who scored 23 points on 10-for-16 shooting last time out against Loyola Chicago. We'll see if he can keep up his hot shooting in this championship game.

Chattanooga vs. UC Irvine Prediction

The Chattanooga Mocs are easily the better offense in this game. The Mocs have shot a 56.6% effective field goal percentage with only 15% of turnovers.

They've hit 36.7% from deep and 57.9% from inside the arc, and they've also added 77% from the foul line. That said, UC Irvine has limited teams to a 45.8% effective field goal percentage.

The Mocs typically like to make opponents rush shots. In addition, teams have hit below 43% from the field inside the arc against UC Irvine this year. It certainly won't be easy to score against UC Irvine tonight.

Beyond that, the Mocs have earned only 25.7% of offensive rebounds and don't consistently get to the foul line. UC Irvine, on the other hand, has limited opponents to below 27% of offensive rebounds and does a good job of preventing them from getting to the foul line.

Conversely, UC Irvine has shot a 51.7% effective field goal percentage. The Anteaters have drained nearly 36% from downtown but only 50.7% from inside the arc. Ultimately, UC Irvine takes way more shots inside the arc. Still, the Mocs has allowed teams to hit 35.2% from deep and could end up giving up too many open looks from three.
