The Indiana Fever will welcome the New York Liberty to the Gainbridge Fieldhouse for an exciting afternoon matchup in the WNBA.
The Liberty won the 2024 WNBA Championship last season and have started right where they left off this season. New York is currently 2-0 with double-digit wins against the Aces and Sky.
On the other hand, the Fever are 2-1 and just squeezed by the Atlanta Dream in their most recent matchup. Caitlin Clark went 0-for-5 from downtown and scored just 11 points. Yet, the Fever still hung on and won on the road.
Last season, New York and Indiana were two of the highest-scoring offenses in the WNBA. This year, it's looking like nothing has changed.

The Indiana Fever scored 81 points in an 81-76 win over the Atlanta Dream despite Caitlin Clark adding just 11 points. Natasha Howard scored 26, and Kelsey Mitchell added 17 in the win. It just goes to show how much deeper the Fever are this season.
Clark and DeWanna Bonner combined for only 12 points, and the Fever still found a way to win.
The Fever have added 85 points per game but have also allowed 87.7 points per game. They're scoring a lot of points but not defending at a good rate, which will likely haunt them against the Liberty.
New York scored at least 92 points in their first two games. They're the second-highest scoring team in the WNBA after the first week. In addition, they've scored a league-best 9.2 new points per game and have added 104.8 points per 100 possessions.
The Liberty are also the most efficient offense in the WNBA, led by Natasha Cloud and Breanna Stewart. However, the Fever have given up 105.1 points per 100 possessions, which is also 11th in the NBA.
Opponents have shot better than 80% at the foul line against the Fever. Teams have also hit 36.1% from downtown against Indiana and have shot a 50.7% effective field goal percentage. New York should have no trouble scoring, even on the road, in a sold-out environment.
However, the same can't be said for the Fever. Yes, Indiana has a great offense and more depth than last season. But the Liberty have limited o[ponents to a 42.5% field goal percentage. They've also got the lowest defensive free-throw rate in the WNBA and have allowed less than 15% of points from the foul line this season.
It's early, but the Liberty still look like the best team in the league.
