Seattle Storm vs. New York Liberty Prediction: Can Storm Snap 9-Game Losing Streak, Pull Road Upset in Rematch of Monday?

Seattle returns to Barclays Center for its second matchup against New York in three nights, with Wednesday’s game airing on USA Network. The Storm are +8.5 (-110) underdogs and +270 on the moneyline, while the Liberty are -8.5 (-110) favorites and -355 to win outright. The total is set at 182.5, with the over priced at -115 and the under at -105.

The Liberty won Monday’s opener 95-83, extending Seattle’s losing streak to nine games and improving to 18-13. The final score does not fully reflect how competitive the Storm remained, as Seattle reduced a double-digit deficit to three points late in the third quarter before New York responded with a decisive 15-0 run. The rematch now requires separating Seattle’s inability to finish games from its repeated ability to remain within striking distance.

Seattle Storm vs. New York Liberty Prediction

Seattle has fallen to 6-26 overall and 2-15 on the road, but its young core continues to produce enough offense to challenge larger spreads. Flau’jae Johnson scored a game-high 25 points Monday, while Natisha Hiedeman and Dominique Malonga each contributed 17. The Storm shot 40.8% from the field and committed damaging mistakes at important moments, yet their primary scorers created enough penetration and transition opportunities to keep New York from pulling away until the final quarter.

New York has won five of its past six games, with Breanna Stewart, Jonquel Jones and Sabrina Ionescu driving the recent improvement. Stewart finished Monday with 24 points, eight rebounds and six assists, Jones added 20 points and seven rebounds, and Ionescu scored 18. The Liberty’s stars controlled the opening stages, but the game was not secured until the reserve unit sparked the 15-0 run that stretched a three-point advantage to 18.

The season series is tied 1-1 after Seattle defeated New York 99-88 on June 25 before the Liberty answered Monday. Stewart did not play in Seattle’s victory, which makes that result less predictive, but the Storm’s size and athleticism have caused matchup problems in both meetings. New York also remains without Leonie Fiebich because of a foot injury and Satou Sabally due to concussion protocol, reducing its wing depth and increasing the workload on its leading players during the quick turnaround.

New York should be favored to win again, but covering 8.5 points requires another late separation against an opponent that already understands its rotations and defensive tendencies. Four of the Liberty’s five victories before Monday came by a combined eight points, and their recent form has featured far more close finishes than comfortable wins. Seattle has repeatedly failed to execute in closing situations, but the spread provides enough protection for another competitive loss.

Seattle Storm vs. New York Liberty Best Bet

Monday’s result also creates a favorable buy-low opportunity. Seattle was one possession away from taking control late in the third quarter before the game unraveled, and the Storm now receive more than three possessions in the rematch. New York’s superior talent should decide the winner, but Seattle’s young scorers can make the margin considerably tighter than it was two nights earlier.
