Indiana has been the league's premier offensive team, averaging more than 96 points per game behind Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell. That form is a major reason this total has climbed so high, but the Fever finally cooled against Dallas, scoring 85 in a 91-85 loss after reaching at least 95 points in each of their previous five games.

Mitchell still scored 36 against the Wings, but Clark was held to 10 points as Dallas found ways to make Indiana work much harder in the half court. Aliyah Boston's lower-leg issue is also worth monitoring, particularly against a New York frontcourt built around Breanna Stewart and Jonquel Jones.
The Liberty should be closer to full strength defensively than they have been recently. Jones and Leonie Fiebich have both been working toward returns, with Fiebich particularly important as a versatile perimeter defender who can help throw different looks at Clark and Mitchell. Satou Sabally remains unavailable, but New York has enough size to make Indiana earn its points rather than simply trading baskets for four quarters.
The season series has produced different styles. New York won the first meeting 83-75, which finished at only 158 points, before Indiana responded with 108-88 and 106-92 victories. Those last two meetings easily cleared this number, but they also help explain why sportsbooks are asking bettors to clear such an aggressive 186.5 this time.
New York plays at a slower pace than Indiana and should have little interest in turning this into the type of transition game the Fever prefer. The Liberty are also coming off a 93-86 loss in Chicago where their defensive execution broke down late, giving them additional incentive to tighten things up against an even more dangerous offense.
