The Valkyries head to Target Center for an 8:10 PM ET tipoff with Minnesota laying 5.5 points. The Lynx enter at 31-7 and riding a six-game winning streak, while Golden State remains second in the league at 25-11 despite dropping its last two games.
This is already the fourth meeting between the teams this season and comes only five days after Minnesota controlled Golden State 77-66 at Chase Center. The Lynx led by as many as 22 points and never trailed, putting the Valkyries in a massive early hole that they were never able to completely erase.

Golden State Valkyries vs. Minnesota Lynx Prediction
Golden State's performance in that game was about as bad as it gets offensively. The Valkyries scored only 26 first-half points and went 7-for-37 from 3-point range, allowing Minnesota to build an 18-point halftime advantage. Janelle Salaün scored 15 points, Veronica Burton added 14 and the bench produced 27 points, but Golden State never received enough production from its starting group to seriously threaten the Lynx.
The encouraging part is that the first two meetings this season were far more competitive. Minnesota won 87-84 at Target Center in June before taking an 81-75 game in San Francisco later that month. The Lynx are 3-0 against Golden State this season, but two of those victories came by six points or fewer. That makes the 11-point result last week look much less representative of how closely these teams have generally matched up.
Golden State also showed some fight Friday despite another terrible start against Chicago. The Valkyries fell behind by 21 points before storming back with a 17-2 third-quarter run and eventually taking the lead, only to lose 73-70 on a late 3-pointer. Slow starts have suddenly become a problem, but Golden State's defense and depth continue to give it a chance to recover when the offense settles down.
Minnesota is 9-1 over its last 10 and has been the best team in the league, so backing the Valkyries outright is difficult. However, the Lynx will be without starting guard Courtney Williams, while Golden State enters with no players on the current injury report. With 5.5 points available, the number creates enough room for a much more competitive rematch.

Golden State has now been embarrassed early in two consecutive games, including the exact matchup it gets another shot at Monday. Expect a much sharper start from the Valkyries, some positive shooting regression after the disastrous 3-point performance last week and another defensive effort capable of keeping Minnesota from running away. The Lynx can still win, but Golden State should keep this inside two possessions.
