The Valkyries forced 18 turnovers and held Minnesota to 35.6% shooting, producing exactly the type of defensive road performance that makes another under attractive.
Connecticut's 87-point performance against Chicago deserves respect, particularly with Aaliyah Edwards scoring a career-high 26 points, but this is an enormous defensive upgrade in competition less than 24 hours later. The Sun have been one of the WNBA's weakest offenses for most of the season and entered Wednesday averaging only 79 points per game.
There is also a strong matchup precedent. Golden State won 79-64 at Connecticut in July, a 143-point game that stayed comfortably below this number. The Valkyries held the Sun to only six second-quarter points and created a six-minute Connecticut scoring drought, showing how difficult this particular defensive scheme can be for the Sun to solve.
