Toronto visits Seattle for a 10:10 PM ET tipoff with the Storm favored by 6.5 points and the total set at 174.5. The Tempo enter at 11-26 and Seattle is a league-worst 7-31, making this one of the rare occasions all season where the Storm are laying multiple possessions.
Neither side has provided much reason for confidence lately. Toronto is 1-9 over its last 10 games, while Seattle is also 1-9 during that span and has dropped three straight. The Storm were most recently hammered 92-70 by Dallas after previously losing close games to Chicago and Portland.

Toronto's roster situation is admittedly ugly. Brittney Sykes and Aneesah Morrow are both done for the season, stripping the Tempo of two important contributors at exactly the wrong time. The injuries explain why a seven-win Seattle team is favored by this much, but they do not automatically make laying 6.5 points with the Storm appealing.
The season series makes the number even harder to justify. Toronto has already beaten Seattle twice, winning 86-73 in May before delivering an even more convincing 93-72 victory later that month. The Tempo are therefore 2-0 straight up and against the spread in this matchup, winning the two games by 13 and 21 points.
Seattle has obviously changed enough for those results not to be treated as automatic predictors, but a 7-31 team should still have to prove it can comfortably separate from anybody. The Storm have covered this -6.5 number in only one of their last 10 games, even as oddsmakers have repeatedly adjusted downward to their poor record.
Toronto at least snapped a 12-game losing streak with an 82-79 win over Portland last week. The Tempo then lost 88-78 to Las Vegas, but there is a massive difference between trying to stay with the Aces and being asked to remain within six points of the worst team in the standings.

This is less about trusting Toronto than refusing to give Seattle a touchdown-sized basketball spread. The Storm may finally take one of the season meetings, particularly against Toronto's depleted roster, but winning by seven or more is a much higher bar. In a matchup involving two of the league's worst teams, take the points and make Seattle prove it deserves this much respect.
