Dream vs. Valkyries Prediction, Best Bets, Latest WNBA Finals Odds for Game 2 - Monday, October 19th

Atlanta returns to Chase Center for Game 2 of the WNBA Finals after letting a late lead slip away in a 68-64 loss to Golden State in the opener. Can Allisha Gray, Angel Reese and Rhyne Howard respond after Atlanta’s offense stalled in the fourth quarter and send the series back home tied? Check out this Dream vs. Valkyries prediction and best bet for Monday, October 19.

Dream vs. Valkyries Prediction: Can Angel Reese, Dream Even Series in WNBA Finals Game 2?

Atlanta came within a few possessions of stealing Game 1 despite shooting poorly and struggling badly down the stretch. The Dream led entering the fourth quarter, but Golden State’s defense took over late and closed out a four-point victory behind another big performance from Gabby Williams.

The result gives the Valkyries a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven series, but Atlanta now gets another opportunity to split the opening two games before Games 3 and 4 move to State Farm Arena.

Dream vs. Valkyries Recent Results

Dream (30-14 Regular Season)

Atlanta entered the Finals unbeaten in the postseason before Game 1 ended its run. Allisha Gray led the Dream with 19 points, while Angel Reese finished with 14 points and 12 rebounds.

The concern was the finish. Atlanta shot just 2-for-19 in the fourth quarter and failed to score over the final several minutes despite remaining within one possession late. That offensive collapse made a winnable game look worse than the overall performance deserved.

Valkyries (32-12 Regular Season)

Golden State remained unbeaten at Chase Center this postseason with the 68-64 victory. Williams carried the offense with 26 points and delivered several of the decisive plays late.

The Valkyries also made life difficult around the rim, using their length and interior defense to disrupt Atlanta throughout the second half. Still, Golden State never created meaningful separation and spent much of the game playing from behind.

Dream vs. Valkyries Prediction

The series history clearly favors Golden State, but the margins suggest Atlanta is much closer than the 0-4 record indicates. Three meetings have been decided by five points or fewer, including Game 1 when the Dream controlled significant portions of the game before their offense collapsed late.

That fourth quarter is also difficult to treat as the most likely outcome moving forward. Atlanta went 2-for-19 from the field and received almost nothing offensively from several of its best players during the closing stretch. Even modest improvement should keep the Dream in another one-possession game.

Gray’s return is important after she dealt with a hand injury during the semifinals. She looked comfortable enough to lead Atlanta with 19 points in Game 1, while Reese dominated portions of the first half before being held scoreless after halftime.

The Dream also have the defensive personnel to keep the game from getting away from them. Reese, Howard and Jordin Canada helped Atlanta build one of the league’s strongest defenses, and Golden State managed only 68 points in the opener despite Williams scoring 26.

Golden State deserves credit for repeatedly finding ways to win this matchup, but laying points after such a tight Game 1 creates less appeal. Atlanta does not need to win outright for this wager to cash, and the Dream have already stayed within five points in three of the four meetings.

The urgency also shifts heavily toward Atlanta. Going home tied 1-1 would put the Dream in a strong position with the next two games in Atlanta, while falling behind 0-2 would force them to win four of the next five.

Dream vs. Valkyries Best Bet

Atlanta was in position to win Game 1 despite an extremely poor fourth-quarter shooting performance. With Gray back in the lineup, Reese capable of creating problems inside and the Dream’s defense keeping Golden State under pressure, another close game is the most appealing setup.

Taking +2.5 provides valuable protection in a matchup that has repeatedly come down to the final possessions, while giving Atlanta a strong chance to even the Finals before returning home.
