Atlanta completely changed the feel of the series Monday night. After dropping Game 1 by four points, the Dream responded with a 79-65 victory at Chase Center behind one of the best performances of Angel Reese’s career and a defense that overwhelmed Golden State after halftime.
The Finals now shift to State Farm Arena tied 1-1, giving Atlanta an opportunity to turn its road split into a series lead. The Dream are 3.5-point favorites after becoming the first team to beat Golden State at Chase Center during this postseason.

Dream (30-14 Regular Season)

Valkyries vs. Dream Prediction
Game 2 provided the strongest evidence yet that Atlanta can dictate this matchup rather than simply trying to survive Golden State’s defense. The Dream created turnovers, ran in transition and repeatedly forced the Valkyries to defend before their half-court structure could get established.
Reese was at the center of that change. Her 30-point, 16-rebound performance was a dramatic response to a frustrating Game 1, and Golden State struggled to find a matchup capable of keeping her away from the rim without creating other openings.
Atlanta’s backcourt also appears much healthier and more settled than it did entering the Finals. Gray scored 18 in Game 2 after dealing with a hand injury during the semifinals, while Canada’s 10 assists gave the Dream another way to consistently create quality possessions.
The turnover differential may be the biggest factor to watch. Golden State gave the ball away 19 times Monday, and Atlanta turned those mistakes into 24 points. Even if the Valkyries clean that number up, the Dream showed how aggressively they can pressure passing lanes and turn defense into immediate offense.
Golden State’s depth remains the strongest argument against laying the points. Its bench outscored Atlanta’s 33-11 in Game 2, and the Valkyries swept the regular-season series. Williams and Veronica Burton are also capable of producing much better offensive performances than they managed Monday.
Atlanta still enters Game 3 with the more compelling immediate trajectory. The Dream took a tight Game 1 into the final possessions before winning Game 2 by 14, and now the series moves to a much larger home environment at State Farm Arena.
That progression makes -3.5 reasonable. Atlanta does not need another blowout, but the Dream should have enough of an advantage in physicality, transition offense and star production to create separation late.
Valkyries vs. Dream Best Bet
- Pick: Atlanta Dream -3.5 (-110) Click here to get the best odds at DraftKings Sportsbook
Atlanta did more than simply even the series in Game 2. The Dream found a formula that consistently disrupted Golden State, generating turnovers, dominating transition opportunities and getting a massive performance from Reese.
Returning home with the series tied gives Atlanta a chance to build on that momentum rather than reset it. If Gray remains effective and Reese continues controlling the interior, the Dream have a strong opportunity to win Game 3 by multiple possessions and take their first lead of the Finals.
