We have three weeks of Dana White’s Contender Series Season 6 in the books, with 10 contracts being handed out thus far. After a slow week one, the past two weeks have been electric, with a future star almost certainly on display last week as former NCAA DI All-American wrestler Bo Nickal won his bout within minutes. 

While we’ll see him again in the final week of the season before he’s given a UFC contract, there are 10 more fighters looking to secure their spot tonight at the Apex. Let’s take a closer look at how the action might unfold. 

Thomas Paull (+235) vs. Esteban Ribovics (-280) Prediction

Jumping straight into the main event this evening, for the second week in a row a pair of lightweights will go at it to finish the card, as Golden Ticket lightweight champion Thomas Paull takes on Kill Cliff product Esteban Ribovics. 

For Paull, all 14 of his professional fights (11-3) have come inside the distance, and he comes into this bout on a three-fight win streak he’ll be looking to extend into a contract. He’ll be facing the stiffest competition of the night, however, as Ribovics has won all 10 of his professional fights, also all inside of the distance. 

While Paull’s story has been a great one as he looks to become the third deaf fighter to win a UFC contract, his battle will be an uphill one against a fighter in Ribovics training with one of the best camps in the world.

Jack Cartwright (-105) vs. Jose Johnson (-115) Prediction

Jack Cartwright will also step into the octagon tonight with a perfect 10-0 record as the British bantamweight will take on DWCS veteran Jose Johnson. The current Cage Warriors champion at 135 pounds, Cartwright has defended that title three times in the lead-up to this fight.

As for Johnson, a season four contender, he lost that bout to Ronnie Lawrence, then lost the following year Mana Martine in a Fury FC title fight. Since then, he has rattled off two straight wins, both inside of the second round. 

In this fight, I like for Cartwright to punch his ticket to the UFC over an opponent in Johnson who the verdict is mostly out on. 

Jack Cartwright vs. Jose Johnson Pick

• Jack Cartwright (-105) (Bet $105 to Win $100)

Claudio Ribeiro (-105) vs. Ivan Valenzuela (-115) Prediction

Another pair of middleweights will go at it in this one, as Ivan Valenzuela will take on Brazil’s Claudio Ribeiro for what should be one of the best fights of the night. For Valenzuela, the current Lux Fight League champion is riding a five-fight win streak, but this will be his first fight outside of a Mexican promotion.

For Ribeiro, the Future MMA middleweight champ is also riding a five-fight winning streak in addition to winning nine of his last 10. While this is as close as it gets on paper, I like for the more experienced Ribeiro, who trains with UFC veteran Elias Silverio, to come out victorious.
