This should be an excellent scrap between two underrated fighters and I can't wait for this one. More importantly, though, is predicting who will win. Dan Ige is the slight favorite at the time of writing, as he sits at -120, with the comeback on Jackson sitting at +105. Can "50k" get back on track tomorrow night?

Dan Ige vs. Damon Jackson Prediction

Damon Jackson has been on an insane career path. After starting out in Bellator, he finally made it to the UFC, but he had a very lackluster time there, going 0-1-2, and not getting a win in his three fights. After that, he was dropped by the promotion and went to the LFA. He went 7-1 in the LFA and won the title there, which was enough to earn him a spot back into the UFC at 31 years old. In his second stint in the UFC, he is making the most, as he is 5-1 in his second chance in the promotion, with his only loss coming to Ilia Topuria. He looks like a new fighter, but the problem is, he has been fighting not the greatest opposition. He will fix that issue tomorrow night, however, as he gets a big step up in competition against Dan Ige.

Dan Ige is a 31-year-old American fighter who has found himself on the wrong side of a 1-4 streak over his past five fights. Since July 15th, 2020, Ige's only win has been against Gavin Tucker. Granted, when you look at who Ige has been fighting, it's not hard to see why he has been unsuccessful. His four losses during this rut have been to Calvin Kattar, Chan Sung Jung, Josh Emmett, and Movsar Evloev. These are all four fighters in the top ten of the rankings. He is essentially taking a step down now to face the unranked Damon Jackson. Ige's wins have also been against the more impressive competition. He has a win against Edson Barboza that was right before his rut. Even the win against Gavin Tucker is impressive because Tucker is a rising prospect that was on a three-fight win streak entering his fight against Ige. The truth of it is that Ige is not a poor fighter; he has just been fighting top-ten fighters at featherweight, maybe before he is ready. This will be a much-needed "break" against an unranked fighter who does not have an elite resume.

Both men bring pressure and both men love action. Ige will try to keep Jackson at a distance, as Ige is best at range. Jackson is best when he gets in your face and when he gets you on the ground. Jackson has 15 of his 22 wins by submission and that is likely his path to victory in this fight. However, the problem is, Ige has never been submitted.

In fact, Ige has never been stopped in his career. Ige has fought the best of the best, and he has always managed to at least make it to the scorecards if he loses. That makes it tough for Jackson because he does not typically go to a decision. Ige is the much more experienced fighter in this matchup, and I think it would be too quick to overreact to his losing streak, given who the losses were against. This is a prime spot for Ige to get back on track, and it is a good matchup for him, given that Jackson likes to find tap-outs and Ige has never tapped.
