5 minDaniel Marcos vs. Saimon Oliveira Prediction: Can Saimon Olivera Dominate at UFC 283?
Alas the UFC is back in Brazil to kick off pay-per-view festivities and all-around good vibes to start the new year right. While a boatload of people still does not give the undercard a fair shake, I believe there are some absolute gems to be found and money to be made. Here is one such instance that happens to be the first fight of the night. Daniel Marcos is an incumbent Peruvian standout from the Dana White Contender Series industrial complex, making his way into the greatest mixed martial arts proving grounds the world has ever known against one, Saimon Oliveira.

Daniel Marcos vs. Saimon Oliveira Prediction
Also hailing from the Tuesday Night Contenders vehicle, 0-1 UFC's Oliveira is looking to find his first win inside of the promotion, displaying immense heart during his last time out but ultimately falling short over the likes of veteran bantamweight powerhouse Tony Gravely. Getting down to the tale of the tape between our pair here is relatively interesting. While Marcos is younger than Saimon by two years, the man fighting out of San Miguel, Lima, Peru will possess a fairly respectable height and reach advantage, posing at around a 5 foot 7 stature and 69 inches respectively over the 5 foot 4 stature and 66-inches found on Mr. Oliveira.
Besides having the considerable length attributes to subsequently exploit, Marcos seems to have the all-around better game surprisingly as well, primarily due to the case of his ability to strike for a prolonged amount of time without succumbing to any issues in the cardiovascular department. The same thing cannot be said for the case of Saimon, as in the two appearances he's made so far inside the UFC web the Brazilian has either gassed out going for takedowns on the Contender Series or was getting takedown at will rather unceremoniously against Gravely on the big show.
Perhaps in terms of raw athleticism and power, I could be willing to side with Saimon, but in the much grander realm of useful practicality and general implementation, I for sure see Daniel utilizing all of the tools he has at his disposal much more efficiently and to greater effect. While it's usually a glaring red flag to expect a Contender series debutant to actually get one over a UFC-experienced hand, in this case, that superstition should be largely negated as Saimon is in just about the same boat as Marcos purely when you look at where they're both at in their careers.
If I had a gun to my head and you forced me to wager on a side here, I would be more than happy to try my luck on the regionally undefeated plus odds dog spot of Daniel Marcos to continue his crusade unblemished out of the cage. However, because I am allergic to any and all things volatile, I will mainly put my coin on the fight to go over 1.5 rounds as I believe this sours deep down the stretch at a fairly high clip.
Given that Marcos is content historically to pick apart opponents for the full 15 minutes as well as Oliviera's surprisingly tough demeanor over other hard hitters like the aforementioned Tony Gravely, bet on the over 1.5 to allow my bank account (and yours) to thrive unequivocally.
