The opening match on the Main Card at UFC 283 pins Paul Craig against Johnny Walker in a light heavyweight division showdown. Handicapper LightningLockz is back with his best bet for Paul Craig vs. Johnny Walker at UFC 283.
ANALYSIS

Paul Craig vs. Johnny Walker Prediction, Pick, Odds: Will Johnny Walker Make a Statement at UFC 283?

Now we embark on the UFC 283 PPV opener of Johnny “SBG Ready” Walker and Paul “BearJew” Craig. What initially grabs my attention is the tale of the tape. Johnny is a gargantuan 6 foot 6, with the Brazillian possessing an even more disgusting 82-inch reach advantage. The Jon Jones-Esque reach will definitely pose some problems against the 6 foot 2, 75-inch length fighter in Craig. Let's get into my prediction and pick for this fight at UFC 283.

Paul Craig vs. Johnny Walker Prediction

Besides having an absolutely alien frame, Johnny Walker has been famous for the prolific stretch of finishes he had to kickstart his extraneous UFC career, culminating with three sub-2-minute 1-round fatalities to add insult to injury before succumbing to the veteran Corey Anderson. Ever since the dramatic falter to “Beastin 25/8,” Walker has had a rollercoaster of a time in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, amassing a 3-3 record of the whos who in the light heavyweight division.

Although coming off a win in his last contest, it was against borderline journeyman Ion Cutelaba, who was actually expected to dog walk the up and down Johnny at the time. Showing great defensive and offensive grappling in that bout, Walker is going to need all of that nuance and more if his upcoming fight with submission specialist Paul Craig hits the floor in any capacity.

When you look at Paul Craig's strength of schedule, it is absolutely awe-inspiring in what names he has lost to and defeated. While going to a draw with Jurassic Shogun Rua is quite embarrassing in the 21st century, a literal buzzer-beater victory over title challenger Magomed Ankaliev and a 1st round stoppage over one-half of UFC 283’s main event Jamahal completely and utterly proves that Mr. Paul is in fact the 205 version of Michael Johnson in all of his bipolar streaking glory.

Because of the utter dystopian nature regarding the unreliability of the two, who will end up emerging from this carnival opener, the benefactor of a hellacious dub and perhaps of a 50 thousand dollar bonus? Although logic dictates that these two human beyblades are going to finish one another probably before the end of the 1st round, I would not be surprised if this sails over even the 1.5-round mark due to subsequent inherent intangibles of SBG coaching in Walker, as well as relentless guard pulling/flopping by Craig.

Everyone thought that the Santos fight against Johnny would be a quick massacre, the same thing was proclaimed when Paul Craig faced Volkan Oezdemir, but that was simply not to be for both. Instead of trying to force a violent spot, I will elect to wager on the favorite in Walker to get it done.

While definitely not the most reliable competitor to put your money on, I believe he is worlds above Craig when it comes to all aspects of the striking department and should be defensively responsible enough to negate Craig's attack if it ends up going down that path down the stretch. As crazy as it sounds, I trust Walker to be the minute winner and take home a decision victory in his native Brazil, if not catching Paul earlier with something crazy to really secure the bag in style.
