ANALYSIS

Yusaku Kinoshita vs. Adam Fugitt Prediction: Can Kinoshita Make a Statement at UFC Fight Night?

If somebody happens to tell you that this weekend's UFC has absolutely zero name value, chances are they are not far off from the truth. Although I will defend The Ultimate Fighting Championship’s honor every chance I get amongst the countless naysayers, unfortunately, I can't in good conscience white knight our beloved premier combat promotion in this latest criticism. There are, nevertheless, still some bright spots here and there for hardcore fans if you are able to look past the celebratory nature of other aforementioned fan favorites and embrace the violent prospects that will be on full display here. Let's get into my pick for this one.

Yusaku Kinoshita vs. Adam Fugitt Prediction

Yusaku Kinoshita, hailing out of the Land of the Rising Sun, has already started becoming labeled by various pundits as “Japanese Conor McGregor” with great enthusiasm and volition. The aforementioned 22-year-old power punching sensation made quite the resounding splash during his Contender Series opportunity, securing a beautiful left pull counter ko victory after winning the majority of the minutes as well to add insult to injury to his opponent. He is now looking to parlay the goodwill ascertained during that performance well into his brand new UFC tenure, taking on the decrepit but forever scrappy Adam Fugitt.

Starting off your run in the Ultimate Fighting Championship at the putrid age of 34, especially when you are not a heavyweight, is absolutely no easy mission, but here Fugitt is regardless attempting to do so in borderline impossible fashion. While no doubt earning his spot with the promotion following his upset series of victories on the regional circuit that was capped off by utter demolition over once highly touted prospect Solomon Renfrow, he was given no easy outs on his welcoming into the fray, being matched up for his UFC Debut against the second coming of Jon Jones, undefeated Ecuadorian Michael Morales in a straight up terrorizing collision.

Although he would lose that contest by gruesome finish, Fugitt nevertheless showed great heart and resolve during the tragically outgunned and underprepared effort. Even though I can commend the boomer for having a fair amount of unrivaled perspicacity that can no doubt be seen on full display once the cage door closes, the fact of the matter is I simply cannot side with him during his upcoming skirmish with Kinoshita. The UFC clearly knows what they're doing with Fugitt here, giving the poor elderly soul two early 20-something studs with nukes for left hands back to back, all in an obvious effort to put the young bucks over at his own expense.

Perhaps in another life where Fugitt was like a decade younger coming into the big show things would be different, but in our current reality look for the Kinoshita to blast the sacrificial lamb back into the minor leagues and perhaps beyond that. But Kinoshita will be gaging his timing for a round before unloading the infamous piston left hand of his unceremoniously and without mercy, putting Fugitt out cold and out of promotional use for good.
