Da Un Jung vs. Devin Clark Prediction
In most circumstances outside of the situation we have late Saturday, the likes of Devin Clark would simply never get the opportunity to co-headline a UFC card in any capacity. Especially after his last gargantuan fumble over the unimpressive journeyman Ion Cutelaba. But due to the laughably foreign all-around card beginning at crackhead hours for us mainlanders, the UFC has elected to slide “The Brown Bear” into this fairly underserved slot. This is all in a lackluster effort to garner a single recognizable name on top of the bill, as well as push their lukewarm prospect in the form of Da Un Jung.
Before his dramatic L against the vastly underrated Dustin Jacoby, the pride of Daegu, South Korea, Jung was having quite the go of it during his tenure inside of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, riding a four-fight winning streak with a random draw to Sam Alvey capping off an otherwise stellar opening promotion run. While some of the names during that quite hellacious campaign amount to glorified chopped liver these days, Jung’s first-round finish over the still-streaking Kennedy Nzechukwu is quite a tremendous endeavor that is nothing to scoff at. I would be lying if I said the aforementioned draw to Sam Alvey did not concern me so slightly. Still, the fact is that the man’s various subsequent performances, even the one that amounted to a loss during the Jacoby encounter, have eased my lingering concerns and then some.
The composure this Korean Chad exhibits both when he is under fire and when he is doing the swarming on the offensive end will no doubt pay dividends against the frenetically aloof Devin Clark. If you have watched any performance with the aforementioned Brown Bear, you would know that you will get a whirlwind typhoon of bombastic techniques and flurries for as long as the contest/car crash lasts. Not necessarily embodying the kill or be killed mantra as some other action fighters, at the end of the day if Clark cannot suck you into his explosive game of power wrestling and various spinning attacks, he will probably wilter and (for lack of a better term) quit abruptly when it gets tough.
Bet on the 29-year-old South Korean standout Da Un Jung to weather the early onslaught Devin Clark will no doubt bring to the table, piecing him at range. Once the second round begins, the Survivor from Sioux Falls South Dakota finally succumbs to a deplorably brutal TKO before the third round can commence.
