Ovince Saint Preux vs. Philipe Lins Prediction: Can Ovince Saint Preux Crank Out a Win at UFC Fight Night?

Facing off early in the prelims tonight are two light heavyweights, Ovince Saint Preux and Philipe Lins. While Lins is an up-and-comer in the UFC, Saint Preux is a seasoned veteran who has been in the UFC for about a decade. The southpaw in Saint Preux comes into this bout with a 2-inch reach advantage and a one-inch height advantage against his orthodox counterpart in Philipe Lins. At 39 years old, Saint Preux is likely reaching the tail end of his career. However, while Lins is still early in his UFC career, he is only two years younger. The books have Lins as a sizeable favorite, with odds north of -200, while the comeback on Saint Preux is +180. Can OSP do it one more time?

Ovince Saint Preux vs. Philipe Lins Prediction

Although not known for their striking, both fighters are very well-rounded and capable on their feet, as well as on the ground. Saint Preux has a solid counter left hook and overhand left early in his fights, but he tends to gas out as the fight progresses. Lins has shown tremendous forward pressure and a solid gas tank in his last bout, using his clinch-grappling to wear out his opponent. This could be a strategy that Lins uses against Saint Preux, as other former fighters have effectively used it to secure wins against him.

On the ground, Saint Preux is extremely dangerous, with solid ground-and-pound and a dangerous submission game. He even has a submission nick-named the "Von Preux Choke" or "The OSP Lock" because of his notorious top-position submissions. His heavy top pressure often wears out his opponents and steals rounds from them. However, this pressure also takes a toll on Saint Preux, weakening his standup in the later rounds. This could be a crucial factor in the fight, as Lins has proven to have a solid gas tank.

It is also worth noting that while Lins is yet to score a finish in the UFC, he has his fair share of submissions and K.O. victories as he rose through Bellator and the PFL. This will be something to think about for Saint Preux, who has been knocked out twice in his last three bouts.

Both fighters can win, but Saint Preux seems to have the advantage. His experience and well-rounded game will prove to be the difference-maker. Saint Preux has been in the octagon with names like Jon Jones, Glover Teixeira, Mauricio Rua, and Jamahal Hill. Those are all current or former champions in the UFC. Lins' highest-rated matchup was against Andrei Arlovski. If Saint Preux can stay focused and avoid getting caught by Lins, he should be able to secure the win. With how high the odds are, the play is on Ovince Saint Preux to win.
