Jon Jones has one of the greatest records inside and outside the octagon. He makes his return to the octagon for the first time since 2019, where he suffered a loss to Dominick Reyes. That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it. His opponent? The man whose name reminds me of an empty box of Fruity Pebbles, Ciryl Gane. This will be undoubtedly the most combined skill between two heavyweights we have seen in the octagon since Chris Barnett and Jake Collier.

In all seriousness, this is a huge fight and a very tough one to pick, as the odds suggest. Jon opened up as a +140 underdog, but that didn’t last long at all. At the time of writing, many sportsbooks have him as high as a -175 favorite.

Jon Jones vs Ciryl Gane Prediction

Here is a wild fact for you: Ciryl Gane started training in MMA the same year that Jake Paul started training in boxing. In comparison, Jon Jones has been fighting for world championships since 2011. While this huge gap in experience cannot be ignored, it does not tell the full story.

We are a decade and a USADA implementation away from the days when Jon Jones dismantled and finished every opponent in his path. He struggled more against his last two opponents than Mike Tyson trying to pronounce ‘sphinx.’ The former light heavyweight champion took a one-legged Thiago Santos to a split decision and won a decision against Dominick Reyes that many would call a robbery. And if you are new here and think they were just tough competitors, take a look at their records since fighting Jon.

Ciryl, on the other hand, has looked much cleaner in his previous bouts, but he still lacks one thing that Jon has. Arrests. All former great combat sports athletes have mugshots. It’s just a fact. All jokes aside, I think wrestling will be the biggest factor in this fight, and if Francis held down Ciryl, then it’s hard to pick against big-body Jon’s wrestling pedigree.

Jon Jones vs Ciryl Gane Pick

All things considered, I am very confident in my research. Jon Jones will walk out of the octagon with the championship belt - only to be stripped of it three weeks later by Jeff Novitsky when submitting his post-fight urine sample.
