Jon Jones vs Ciryl Gane Prediction

It is almost certain that UFC 285 will serve as one of Jon Jones's legacy-defining events, whether he wins or loses. Jones is already a legendary fighter, and even those who think he is a nasty person admit he is a contender for the title of greatest of all time.

Whether or not he defeats Ciryl Gane to win the heavyweight title will probably determine how many people view him as the GOAT, whether fair or unfair.  The evening holds many of the same significance for Gane, given that he not only lost to Francis Ngannou but also lost to him by being outwrestled by the strong striker.

Few people noticed that Gane had defeated Tai Tuivasa in a bout since failing outright to take the heavyweight title in his first big fight. Now, he'll be the first to charge Jones of a real loss if he succeeds. If he loses, he will have failed twice, and his chances at the highest level will likely be limited going forward.

Let's take a look at a few props from FanDuel Sportsbook that I think might paint the picture.

Best UFC 285 Jon Jones vs Ciryl Gane Prop Bets

Total Rounds - Under 4.5 (+124) Bet $100 to collect $224 Get the best odds at FanDuel; click here to bet

There are a lot of different ways this fight could go, and despite oddsmakers shading the distance to be the favorite route, I disagree with that assessment. While I like Jones to win this one, Gane certainly has the skillset and physicality to match Jones' violence, and both of these guys I know are wary of each other in that right.

While much has been made about both of these guys' cardio, I see some wild exchanges here early, and I like the chances of one or more converting to a knockdown. From there, they both should know what to do.

Jon Jones Wins by Submission (+550) Bet $100 to collect $650 Get the best odds at FanDuel; click here to bet

For Gane, his striking is just about all he has in terms of ending this fight early. He struggled to wrestle against Ngannou, and he’s getting a fighter in Jones, who is world-class on the ground. In fact, at this size, few guys have ever competed at light heavyweight or above that could match Jones on the ground.

Best UFC 285 Jon Jones vs Ciryl Gane Parlay

Jon Jones + Jalin Turner (+332) Bet $100 to collect $432 Get the best odds at FanDuel; click here to bet

While we’ve already touched on Jones, I think Turner is the perfect parlay partner to produce a nice 3:1 payout. Stepping in on late notice for Dan Hooker, he gives his opponent Gamrot a completely new look that I don’t think he’s taking seriously.
