On Saturday, May 20th, the boxing world will witness a highly anticipated showdown between Devin Haney and Vasiliy Lomachenko at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Haney, the undisputed lightweight champion of the world, and Lomachenko, the challenger who once held three of the four major lightweight titles, will battle it out in a fight that will determine the present and future of boxing.

Devin Haney vs. Vasiliy Lomachenko Prediction
Haney, 24, is a pound-for-pound worthy combatant and a defensive-minded savant who profiles as a young Floyd Mayweather disciple. He has excellent head movement and is a highly technical fighter. He has a natural advantage in size and reach over Lomachenko, who is 35 and has 10-plus years on his foe. However, Lomachenko is known for his level changes and always keeping his head a moving target, and his unique set of skills could make it difficult for Haney to land his jab.
Oddsmakers are favoring Haney pretty heavily at -250, but Lomachenko was once recognized as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world. His footwork and ability to nullify Haney's best weapon, his jab, could be the biggest factor in the fight. However, Lomachenko will have to start faster than he did in his loss to Teofimo Lopez because if he starts slow, Haney will have the upper hand with a few rounds in the bag, and it will be difficult to come back.
While Haney has dominated much of his pro career, he has not faced anyone with near the depth of skill that Lomachenko has. Lomachenko's age could work against him, but his experience and dynamic fighting style leave the fight open for an upset.
The pick for this fight is Lomachenko to win by decision for me because he has all the tools to be the first loss of Haney's career. The fight to go the distance is juiced heavily at -450, which means this fight is almost certainly going to the scorecards. In that case, I'm taking a shot at a great price on Lomachenko to have a vintage performance in a winnable fight for him if he can start hot and utilize his head movement to stifle Haney.
