Alexander Volkov vs. Alexandr Romanov Prediction
Derrick Lewis's offspring Volkov is coming into regulation a changed man, with the Bodacious bruiser flying high following his two-minute KO victory over Jarzinho Rozenstruik last year.
Romanov has been not so fortunate, dropping a controversial decision to Marcin Tybura the previous summer but still riding some semblance of hype and momentum against all odds barging into the fray. To say the name of the game for these gentlemen being fairly binary would be the understatement of the year. The fight is going to play out in two distinct scenarios when it's all said and done.
Either Romanov can implement his wrestling will early and often en route to a debilitating unanimous decision, or Volkov will rise to the occasion and shut down the takedown onslaught before it even begins, vivisecting the sitting duck in Romanov from pillar to post to secure his own victory as well as the performance of the night bag.
Now I well and truly get that the hype for Romanov has died down since he dropped the ball as an almost five-to-one favorite last time out, but there is still hope for the prospect in the grander scheme of things as he is still just in his early 30s which is pretty young for the big boy division.
Given they are both penchants for being durable alongside the stylistic matchup they equally embody, play the over 1.5 rounds as that is too meager of a time to achieve even for heavyweights. Look for one of these behemoths to score a late-round finish or decision, but no matter what, you will be cashing the total with penultimate ease.
