Brendan Allen vs. Chris Curtis Prediction
In the first fight, Chris Curtis was losing the first round and the second round was close before Chris Curtis dropped Brendan Allen with a mean shot. Allen got caught off guard and was finished in the second round of their fight before he was able to get going on the ground. However, that fight was back in 2021 and Brendan Allen has significantly improved since then. Brendan Allen has gotten a lot better at using his striking to get fights to the ground, which will be vastly important against Chris Curtis. Curtis has very good takedown defense. He has a 92% takedown defense rate in the UFC, which will make it hard for Brendan Allen to get the fight to the ground, but not impossible. Allen has mastered the art of using his striking to set up clinch scenarios, and from there getting fights to the ground. Once the fight is on the ground, Brendan Allen can use his black belt Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to end fights, as he has won five of his last six fights by submission. Allen has now won by submission seven times in the UFC. Chris Curtis has shown struggles against very good grapplers in the past. While he has not been submitted yet in the UFC, he has struggled against wrestlers who can also grapple like Kevin Gastelum and Jack Hermansson. While he was able to catch Brendan Allen clean in the second round of their first fight, I’m not sure he will be able to do it again. Chris Curtis is a pretty popular underdog today, because if he can keep the fight on the feet, he has a pretty good chance to win the fight, but I don’t see him being able to keep Allen from getting this fight to the ground for five total rounds. Once it does get to the ground, it should be over quickly. Therefore, I like taking Allen by sub at plus money rather than taking him on the money line with a lot of juice.
