This fight is for the potential No. 1 contender spot in the bantamweight division. Sean O'Malley is eying a return late this year, and the winner of this bout could be the next contender for the belt against him. This is especially true if Merab Dvalishvili is unavailable to fight due to his multiple injuries suffered in the UFC 311 bout against Umar Nurmangomedov. Dana White has even admitted that a strong showing from one of these fighters on Saturday could lead to a title shot, considering injuries and timing. Sandhagen has been close to winning a belt throughout his UFC career. However, he hasn't reached the pinnacle. The last time he fought for a belt was in 2021. However, he most recently lost to Umar Nurmagomedov by decision in August of 2024 after winning his previous three matches. Meanwhile, Figueiredo is a former flyweight champion who lost that title to Brandon Moreno in 2023 and has since decided to join the bantamweight division. Ultimately, Figueiredo can win two different divisions in his UFC career. That's super rare and hard to do. But he'll have to get through Sandhan first, even to have the potential opportunity. Cory Sandhagen vs. Deiveson Figueiredo Prediction

In four of his last five MMA bouts, Cory Sandhagen has had four of five matchups go the distance. All five of those matchups have been five rounds, and this one will be, too.

Sandhagen is known for his lateral footwork, which allows him to attack from many different angles. He's a volume striker who can land leg kicks. He also has terrific cardio and stamina, especially if he can last five rounds in the octagon every time.

While he lost to Nurmagomedov, Sandhagen still earned a takedown in that fight. That's something that most didn't expect from him in his latest bout.

On the other hand, Figueiredo has 10 UFC finishes in his career. He's a dangerous puncher, but is also very good at landing the guillotine. If Sandhagen gets caught being sloppy, Figueiredo will more than likely take advantage. He's also super durable and won't mind putting pressure on Sandhagen against the cage.

That said, Figueiredo's cardio has declined over the years. If Figueiredo doesn't earn a finish in the first couple of rounds, it's more than likely that Sandhagen will escape with victory by decision.
