Since that loss, Burns has gone 3-4 and is currently on a three-match losing streak, losing to Belal Muhammad, Jack Della Maddalena, and Sean Brady.
There are many questions surrounding Burns and his career. He's already 38 years old, and another loss could push him far out of contention for a title. He's currently No. 8 in the UFC Welterweight rankings and will face No. 12 Michael Morales as the main event of UFC Vegas 106.
Since his UFC debut at UFC 270, Michael Morales is 5-0. He's also a perfect 17-0 in his MMA journey since 2017. Morales most recently defeated Neil Nagny by TKO late in the first round.

Gilbert Burns has extensive experience in big fights at the UFC. However, he hasn't looked great recently. Still, in a potential five-round fight, Burns should have better cardio. He'll move slowly and try to dictate the pace of the fight.
If his tactics play out, he'll be able to earn some rounds with his grappling, but he is also a threat to land a submission.
Meanwhile, Morales is much quicker and has way more athleticism. While Burns will look to dictate the fight and move slowly, Morales will more than likely be the aggressor and land more volume. His goal will be to keep the fight standing so he doesn't get caught up in any major submissions.
Ultimately, Morales has solid takedown defense, which should help him survive in this fight.
That said, Burns will give it all he's got. With a loss at UFC Vegas 106, his UFC career could conclude. Let's just be real. Therefore, I like this fight to get over 3.5 rounds. Ultimately, I wouldn't be surprised if this fight goes the distance.
