Julianna Pena will look to retain her women's bantamweight championship belt in a huge co-main event matchup against Kayla Harrison.
This will be Pena's fourth consecutive title fight. She defeated Amanda Nunes by submission in late 2021, but lost by decision to Nunes in a rematch in 2022.
However, after defeating Pena, Nunes defended her title against Irene Aldana, only to retire from the sport altogether. When she retired, Raquel Pennington took the belt in a win over Mayra Bueno Silva. But then Pena was given another chance to earn the title back, and she did in UFC 307.
Now we're at UFC 316, with Pena looking to hold onto her belt against Harrison. To add another wrinkle, Amanda Nunes is expected to return. She'll be in the stands tonight and wants to compete against the winner of tonight's match for the bantamweight belt.
There's a lot at stake tonight! Can Pena keep Harrison away from her first championship belt in the UFC?

Julianna Pena vs. Kayla Harrison Prediction
Julianna Pena might have the belt, but she's a super underdog against Kayla Harrison in tonight's co-main event.
Harrison is a two-time Olympic gold medalist. She's also been a champion in the PFL previously. Ultimately, Harrison is a dominant grappler and will dominate on the ground.
She's done so well since joining the UFC that she's getting a title shot in her third-ever UFC fight. Harrison earned a submission over Holly Holm and then defeated Ketlen Vieira by decision at UFC 307.
Harrison's weight cut to 135 lbs wasn't easy for her, so that's one thing to pay attention to. That said, both fighters have somewhat "boring" styles of fighting. There likely won't be too much excitement in this fight. Pena will want to keep this fight standing, but it's hard to imagine she will be able to. After all, both fighters have earned more submissions than TKOs in their professional careers.
Therefore, there's value in this fight to go the distance at +190. While it's a five-round fight, it's mostly going to be on the ground. Pena has never tapped out or been submitted in her professional career.
