4 Minute ReadRandy Brown vs. Jacobe Smith: Will Jacobe Make Quick Work of Randy Brown in UFC Main Event?
Smith has quickly developed into one of the most dangerous young welterweights on the roster. The former high-level wrestler is 13-0 and has finished each of his last seven opponents, including four consecutive UFC victories.
Brown represents a major increase in experience and range. The 36-year-old has spent more than a decade in the UFC and owns a 78-inch reach, but he enters after consecutive losses to Gabriel Bonfim and Kevin Holland.
Randy Brown vs. Jacobe Smith Recent Results
Randy Brown (20-8)
Brown lost a unanimous decision to Holland in April after suffering a second-round knockout against Bonfim late last year. Before that skid, he knocked out Nicolas Dalby in the second round.
His length remains difficult for most welterweights to solve. Brown stands 6-foot-3 with a 78-inch reach and can make opponents pay if they struggle to safely close distance.
Jacobe Smith (13-0)
Smith enters only four weeks after stopping Bruce Whitehead in 92 seconds at UFC 332. He also knocked out Josiah Harrell in the first round in February after submitting Niko Price in his previous appearance.
Ten of Smith's 13 victories have come by knockout, and nine have ended in the first round. His wrestling background makes the striking power even more dangerous because opponents cannot simply sell out defensively against his hands.

Randy Brown vs. Jacobe Smith Prediction
Brown's reach is the strongest argument against blindly backing another early Smith finish. If he can establish his jab and force Smith to shoot or strike from outside, the veteran has enough experience to make this a much more complicated fight than Smith's recent matchups.
The concern is that Smith has several ways to close that distance. His wrestling background allows him to pressure without becoming a one-dimensional striker, and once he forces opponents to defend takedowns, his power becomes significantly harder to read.
Smith's recent finishing numbers are difficult to ignore. His last two fights have ended in the first round, while seven consecutive opponents have failed to reach the scorecards.
Brown has also shown vulnerability during his current skid. Bonfim stopped him in the second round, and Smith brings considerably more early pressure than the veteran generally wants to deal with.
Randy Brown vs. Jacobe Smith Best Bet
- Pick: Under 1.5 Rounds (-130) Check out these best odds at FanDuel Sportsbook
Smith has nine first-round finishes and enters directly off consecutive opening-round knockouts. Brown's length gives him an upset route, but if Smith successfully collapses the distance early, the combination of wrestling pressure and knockout power should create another strong finishing opportunity before the midpoint of Round 2.
